About Paloma's Track Record

Since she was a young girl, Paloma Aguirre was always drawn to the water. She taught herself how to surf and won several bodyboarding competitions. She fell in love with Imperial Beach and throughout her career, she has fought to make our ocean cleaner for all to enjoy.

Paloma knows it is unacceptable for our beaches to be closed because of sewage from the Tijuana River.

As Mayor of Imperial Beach, she made waves and challenged the status quo to secure $600 million in federal funding to stop toxic pollution. Paloma was named Woman of the Year for her relentless efforts to get politicians to act on the Tijuana River Valley crisis.
